Event Temple is seeking a full-time Senior Site Reliability Engineer to lead our web platform reliability efforts and drive our application scalability strategy. This will be a remote role open to candidates based in Nova Scotia, Canada.

- You're skilled in building robust and performant CI/CD pipelines specifically for web application deployments.
What will you do?
As a Web Application Senior Site Reliability Engineer, you'll be the technical leader for our web platform reliability, designing and scaling our Ruby-based web applications to support our growing hospitality ecosystem and ensure exceptional user experiences for thousands of venues worldwide.
You can expect to:
- Design and maintain highly available web application infrastructure on Heroku/AWS supporting multi-tenant hospitality platforms.
- Build and optimize CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions for reliable, zero-downtime web application deployments.
- Manage and scale PostgreSQL databases powering our web applications, ensuring performance and data integrity.
- Develop comprehensive web application monitoring, performance tracking, and user experience observability frameworks.
- Optimize Ruby web application performance, including response times, throughput, and resource utilization.
- Lead incident response for web application issues and conduct post-mortem analysis to drive continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with frontend and backend teams to ensure seamless web application reliability and scalability.
- Establish best practices for web application deployment automation, security, and disaster recovery.
What skills are required?
We're looking for someone who has:
- 5+ years of experience in web application site reliability engineering or web platform engineering in production environments.
- Expert knowledge of web applications and their operational characteristics at scale.
- Strong experience with GitHub Actions for web application CI/CD pipeline design and automated deployments.
- Proven expertise managing PostgreSQL for web applications, including performance tuning and query optimization.
- Deep experience with AWS services specifically for web application hosting and scaling.
- Strong background in web application monitoring, performance profiling, and user experience observability.
- Experience with web application architecture patterns and scaling strategies.
The following are also nice to have bonus experience:
- Experience with Ruby on Rails framework and web application scaling patterns.
- Background in web application security and performance optimization.
- Experience with Redis and web application caching strategies.
- Experience with New Relic observability platform
- Knowledge of frontend performance monitoring and user experience metrics.
- Previous experience with web application incident management and on-call rotation leadership.
- Familiarity with CDN configuration and web asset optimization.

Compensation:
$130,000 to $160,000 a year CAD (based on experience).
